Obituary of James Michael Kyanka

James Michael "Jim" Kyanka, 56, formerly of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 28, 2019 in Blacksburg, VA. He was born in Georgia and lived in Syracuse for 22 years. He moved to Boston, Arizona then settled in Blacksburg, VA for the past 2 years. Jim was a graduate of Solvay High School, received his Associates Degree from Onondaga Community College, received his Bachelor of Science from RIT and then went on to earn his Masters Degree from Northeastern University. Jim's professional life entailed many spans of professional occupations including packaging engineering, logistics, and ending with Director of Supply Chain Management. His true dream of owning his own business was fulfilled recently when he and his wife Sharon were given the opportunity of opening their own bakery. During this time he received much joy and happiness at how successful the business had become. Jim's hobbies included horseback riding, vacationing and being the biggest New England Patriots Fan ever.
Jim was predeceased by father Michael Kyanka who passed away in 1994.
He is survived by is loving wife of 7 years Sharon and his dog Charlie Girl; his daughter Alison Kyanka, his mother Gloria Kyanka; his brother and sister in law Greg and LeeAnn Kyanka; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. Jim will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday October 3rd 9:30 AM at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 West Genesee St. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday October 2nd from 5-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Jim will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
