Obituary of Petro Patriak

Petro Patriak ,84, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday December 13, 2018.  Petro was born in the Village of Szczawne, Sanok County, Lemkivshchyna. Ukraine.  He and his wife Maria and their two young sons, came to the United States in 1964.  He was a longtime resident of Astoria, NY before moving to Syracuse in May of 1998.    He retired from UPS where he worked as a mechanic for 15 years.  He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the New York City Branch of the Organization for the Defense of Lemko Western Ukraine.Petro was a hard working man who strived for the American dream.

He was predeceased by his wife Maria Hryszko Patriak who died in 2007.

SURVIVORS:  His 2-Sons Stefan and Michal (Cathy) Patriak and his Daughter Sofia (John) Hvozda; 7-Grandchildren, 3-Great Grandchildren  and 1-Cousin.

SERVICES:  Funeral Services will be conducted Monday 9:30 AM from the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home and 10:00 AM in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Petro will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.  Calling Hours will be held Sunday December 16th from 4-7 PM at the funeral home 1609 W. Genesee St.  The Panakhyda Services will be held at 6:45 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
