Obituary of Christopher Michael Piotrowski

Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christopher Michael Piotrowski was born January 16, 1971 and was welcomed into God's loving embrace on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the age of 53. Loving and cherishing life and all it offered him, Christopher excelled academically and in sports throughout his school years and within the Ukrainian Community. Being a gifted athlete, he made Ukrainian dancing seem effortlessly and, like everything in life, Christopher loved to teach and share all his discoveries and joys. Christopher went to Ukrainian school, was a member of CYM, the Ukrainian American Youth Association as well as an altar boy at St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and the greatest bringer of pride, joy and life's promises to his mother and grandmother. Children, always, and pet cats and dogs also, were enriched by his nurturing and inspiration. If Christopher had a fault, it was that he liked to joke and if he had a remarkable strength, it was that he never gave up. Throughout Christopher's life his tenacity and unrelenting determination shone the brightest of lights into the lives of the countless many he loved and who loved him in return. He is predeceased by his grandmother Anna Zak and his uncle Bohdan Zak. Christopher is survived and will always be loved by his grieving mother Mary Piotrowska, and the Dunham, Kelly and Chmara families. Zoriana and Ulana were "sisters" and their parents Sophie and Orest were "family". Zoriana and Phil Dunham's children, Sonya, Lyla, Alex and Matthew were "our children" as is Orie, Ulana and Liam Kelly's son, all of whom, together with the rest of the Dunham family, Luba Shabych and close friends, many daily, waited with Christopher to start his journey to the next world. Calling hours will be held Tuesday February 27, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. A Panakhyda service will be conducted 6:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 28, 2024 at 10:00 am in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St., Syracuse. Christopher will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honour Christopher's wishes and the community that allowed him to thrive, donations to CYM, the Ukrainian American Youth Association, would be greatly appreciated by his mother Mary.
