Obituary of Julie Maliwesky

Julie Hnotko Maliwesky, beloved daughter of Frank and Helen (Micho) Hnotko passed away peacefully at the Elderwood Nursing home on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the age of 101.
Julie was born in Syracuse and lived most of her life in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood. Julie worked at Brown, Lipe, Chapin on Fayetteville St. during WWII. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church
.
She married John Maliwesky in 1942. They had three children, Carol Werbeck, Michael Maliwesky and Jerry (Nancy) Maliwesky; four grandchildren, David (Liz) Werbeck, Danny (Norma) Werbeck, Douglas (Katie) Werbeck and Debbie (Mike) Miller; six great grandchildren, Tiffany (Radley) Turner, Julia Nesbitt, Matthew Werbeck, Felicia (Sean) Nolan, Franklin Werbeck and Tyler Miller; and three great great grandchildren Radley, Alexandria and Julianna Turner; all whom she adored with her whole heart.
Julie loved her family and friends.
She loved cooking, music, traveling, dancing, her church, bingo and casinos. She always made everyone she knew feel special and she had the most beautiful smile, a great sense of humor and style and she always had a sparkle in her eye. As her son, Michael, said often "She was the Queen of Tipperary Hill."
She is survived by her son Jerry, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many many grand nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday January 6, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W. Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13204. Panahyda services will be held at 6:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 12:00 noon in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 201 Tompkins St. Syracuse, NY. Julie will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
