John T. Hnotko, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday November 19, 2022 at Elderwood of Liverpool. John retired from Crucible Steel where he worked as a Teletype operator for over 31 years. After retiring he went on to work in retail. Customer service was his specialty. Some of the many stores where John worked included, Flah's, Addis & Dey's, Sibley's, Dey Brothers and J. C. Penny's. He was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Grounder, his sister Helen Pontello, and his grandparents Frank & Helen Hnotko. He is survived by his sister Marion Wood, an aunt and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 West Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Panakhyda services will be held Friday at 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will held 10:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St. Syracuse. John will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
